So dense, it’s marvelous, s’wonderful! I <3 Pumpkin King. And snarky Shadow. The contrasts you manage – between the cocky and the mature, the bouncy and the hurt and rage tinted cynicism – seem quite credible, quite engrossing.

Other than that… ‘King Estastes huh? You said Shadow wasn’t of the Orange County kid mindset, though… Watch this development carefully, we must…

Hmmm. Darker tone than BratPack, especially with the voluntary taking on of pain to accomplish the goal. That takes maturity, and develops it at the same time, I’d say. To take damage like that must make you very aware of your limits; case in point: “I allowed myself to heal a little more,” [...] “I took my time standing up. The wounds weren’t done healing yet.” Yet Shadow still ‘feels’ cocky. I’d place him as older than the brats, though not that much. 19? Anywho, I like! Can’t wait to see the next one with Pumpkin King.
